Emma Crowley was the guest of honour on Saturday night (6 February) at Cork's Maryborough Hotel, where funds raised from the Black Tie ball in her name will benefit the work of Cork ARC Cancer Support House.
Emma has documented her experience of cancer on her facebook page 'The Big C - Emma's Journey' and has become a passionate advocate for early detection and screening. Her many friends and supporters from Cork and further afield gathered together to celebrate the wonderful spirit and courage Emma has shown throughout the past few years.
A group of Emma's close friends came together last year and decided to organise the ball, with the aim of showing their love and support for Emma and her family as well as raising awareness and funding for Cork ARC. At Cork ARC we provide a welcoming, warm and homely space for people whose lives have been impacted by cancer, who can find support and information as well as find relief in our many therapies and support groups. All of our services are available free of charge, and family members are very welcome to use the service.
The ball committee organised a wonderful night, which started off in the Maryborough's Orangery. Guests were glamorously attired in Black Tie, and danced the night away to The Jabronis. Emma was given a beautiful keepsake of the night - an album of photographs and message from the guests at the ball, all taken on the night.
