Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy has officially launched launched Bantry's Lip Sync Battle fundraiser in aid of Cork ARC, Bantry and Bantry Hospice Project.
The upcoming Lip Sync Battle takes place at the Maritime Hotel in Bantry over two nights, on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd September 2018.
Eleven competing teams have been busy perfecting their routines throughout the summer, following a demanding training schedule, with dance instructor Jenny O’Gorman, of Ultra-Flex School of Dance, Cork and Galway putting them through their paces.
Audiences will be treated to a wide range of acts from ABBA to Beyoncé and many more over the two nights. They are sure to be very well prepared for the performance of a lifetime, which will include spectacular group routines as well as dazzling team acts. “I’m really enjoying working with the Bantry group, they are so eager to learn and have made great progress so quickly. I have seen them make many new friends, have a lot of fun and am confident they will deliver a spectacular show over the two nights”, said Jenny.
Such is the demand anticipated for the show, the eleven starring teams will be taking to the stage to show off their Lip Sync moves on both Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd September 2018 at 8pm. The same show will be delivered on both nights, with the overall winner being announced on Saturday 22nd September.
HOW THE WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN...
Audience members can support their favourite team by buying votes on the show nights. The team with the most votes, combined with judge’s scores will be declared the Lip Sync Battle Bantry winner on Saturday night.
Claire Hayden of Bantry Hospice and an enthusiastic member of the organising committee said “This is the first time that Lip Sync is performed in Bantry and I’m delighted to be involved in this fundraiser. All participants must be commended for participating and giving up their time to raise funds for Bantry Hospice and Cork ARC Cancer Support House. It is great to see such camaraderie and friendship between all the participants across all the teams”.
The two nights promise huge entertainment, with Alan Short as MC and an exciting line up of judges including RTE’s Dancing with the Stars 2018 winner, Jake Carter, dance choreographer Orna Phelan, Elma Walsh from Donal Walsh Live Life Foundation, Independent TD Michael Healy Rae, local businessman Richard Harrington and Brenda Dennehy, producer for the Neil Prendeville show Corks RedFM.
All funds raised from this joint fundraising event will continue to benefit the ongoing delivery of vital cancer care services in West Cork and South Kerry, which means so much to many families in the region and which are provided free of charge.
A SELL OUT SUCCESS...
Already proving to be a popular event for West Cork, the Saturday night show is sold out. A limited number of tickets for the Friday night event (which is not all-seated) are available at €25.00 each from either the Maritime Hotel or Rowa Pharmaceuticals.
