Bantry Bay Adventure Race

Explore West Cork’s Active Islands this August at the Bantry Bay Adventure Race & support the great causes in this vibrant coastal community.

The Bantry Bay Adventure Race is an exciting three part challenge set for Saturday 26th August that sees competitors run, kayak and cycle through Whiddy Island, Bantry Bay and the Sheep’s Head Peninsula.

The race encourages visitors to make the most of the extraordinary landscape of West Cork and uses its not for profit platform to highlight and support the work of local community organisations.

Charity Partners

For 2017, the Bantry Bay Adventure Race have chosen Cork ARC Cancer Support House, West Cork, Bantry Inshore Rescue Association and Whiddy Island Development Association as their charity partners.

Cork ARC Cancer Support House was established to provide a holistic centre in which people with cancer and their families can find emotional support, practical help and trust.

Our aim is to provide therapies that complement the medical model and adhere to best practice, so as to make a difference to the lives of those affected by cancer.

We welcome visitors to our centres in Cork city and county and all of our services are free of charge.

At Cork ARC in West Cork we are open at 'The Bungalow', Goureebeg (near Bantry Golf Course) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Visitors are welcome to drop in without an appointment and chat in confidence with one of our trained volunteers in a relaxed atmosphere. Telephone support is also available on 027 53891.

We also offer a range of therapies which complement the medical model, including counselling, therapeutic massage and reflexology. We host regular programmes including a mindfulness group and information workshops on diet, bereavement and the effect of hormonal therapies.

Our weekly open drop in group welcomes all those affected by cancer to call in for the 'Hour of Calm', a guided meditation and relaxation session.

Your support of the Bantry Bay Adventure Race will help us continue to deliver this community support, free of charge, to the people in the West Cork and South Kerry whose lives have been affected by cancer.
