Join Trudy O'Donovan from Cork on the Clipper Round the World Race in aid of Cork ARC Cancer Support House.
Trudy is raising funds for the work of Cork ARC Cancer Support House as she crews with Ichorcoal in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. She took part in Leg 5 earlier in 2016 and has rejoined Ichorcoal for Leg 8, the final stage in this epic global race.
Having departed New York on June 20th, Trudy and her crewmates will cross the North Atlantic, travelling at least 3,000 nautical miles towards the finish line in London at the end of July. It's worth noting that Trudy and co. will stopover in Derry / Londonderry for a week in July. A short and intense race awaits the fleet between Ireland and London, and with podium places still up for grabs, this Leg should be interesting to say the least!
Recap of Leg5
DA NANG NEW DISCOVERY OF ASIA RACE
Trudy joined the Clipper Race in Australia in January of 2016 for Leg 5 of the Da Nang New Discovery of Asia Race. Many crew members experienced the great King Neptune ceremony held for all those who cross the Equator for the first time.
Trudy's Crew Diaries
After a relaxing stay in Vietnam, the Clipper Fleet started in tropical heat and light headwind but hit rough seas and violent storms as they sailed northwards to the Olympic sailing city of Qingdao, China.
At this point, Ichorcoal placed 10th in the race, and safely arrived into port at Qingdao. The crew received a heroes welcome to the city.
