Mindfulness Based Stress Relief

A Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme is available at Cork ARC for people living with a secondary/metastatic cancer diagnosis.

From Wednesday 9th March, Cork ARC Cancer Support House will run a ten week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme specifically designed for people living with secondary cancer, or a serious long-term illness related to cancer or its treatment.

I use the short practices in stressful situations e.g. scans, waiting rooms.

In the MBSR programme, participants learn a range of mindfulness practices that can be used in daily life that can enhance wellbeing. The benefits of these mindfulness practices include an increased ability to manage stress, anxiety, depression low mood. It also helps in managing the uncertainty that can accompany living with an ongoing illness.

It’s changed my life and made me a lot calmer as a person. I have learned skills to help me deal with my illness and face the future positively

Our MBSR programme is offered free of charge and will commence on Wednesday, 9th March and will run each Wednesday thereafter from 2pm -4pm for ten weeks.
