Cork ARC Cancer Support House provides a range of groups for cancer patients and those who care for them.

All of our groups are free of charge and focus on wellness through exercise and relaxation. They are all led by experienced facilitators. 

Evidence shows that exercise has many benefits: it can reduce fatigue, improve physical fitness and considerably improve your feeling of wellness. Our Tai Chi, Pilates, Yoga and Walking groups can help you with your exercise, all of which are adapted to your individual ability and pace.

Our Hour of Calm and Mindfulness groups focus on the techniques that can help manage anxiety and stress and demonstrate techniques that encourage mindfulness, using the breath as our anchor, as well as visualisation.

You are very welcome to drop in to our open Hour of Calm mornings in Bantry and Mardyke House in Cork city as well as our calming meditation / T'ai Chi open morning at NICHE Knocknaheeny. All other groups and information evenings must be booked, as places are limited.

Hour of Calm

This hour offers a quiet space led by an experienced meditation teacher, offering techniques of progressive relaxation, breath work, meditation, visualisation and compassionate kindness. Our Hour of Calm is a drop-in group.

SECONDARY CANCER SUPPORT

Our Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme is for patients living with an ongoing cancer diagnosis. It teaches formal and informal mindfulness practices that can be effective for a wide variety of health problems and ongoing life challenges.

Our Yoga class can help you learn to relax through gentle breathing and exercise techniques.

pilates 

Pilates for Men with Cancer

Exercises to aid in the rehabilitation and recovery of men after a cancer diagnosis, supporting men in establishing their health and wellbeing after a cancer diagnosis through a series of mat based exercises. Dates for next programme to be confirmed

Pilates for Women

Our Pilates class will help you regain flexibility and fitness after a breast cancer diagnosis.

T’ai Chi

Our T'ai Chi class can help you with relaxation and stress management through gentle movement.

Art Therapy

Our Art Therapy class can help you express your feelings in a safe and gentle way using a range of art materials. No experience of art or drawing is necessary.

Mindfulness

Our Mindfulness class is aimed at developing skills of awareness using the breath in the present moment to bring ease and peace of mind. The benefits are an increased ability to relax and cope with short term and long term stressors.

RELAXATION / MEDITATION

Our relaxation / meditation class for cancer patients and their families at our Northside service at NICHE Knocknaheeny.  

Our weekly group in NICHE is a drop in group, you are welcome to visit us there on Friday mornings between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to find out more or to simply join in without an appointment.
